FROM THE DESK OF: Mister Shortcut
As you've heard so many times before, talk is cheap.
Here's an opportunity for
you to begin taking the necessary steps toward providing material help for
anyone you know who is afflicted with a serious disease. Please keep in mind that the single
greatest source of help you can tap into is behind the face that you see... in
the mirror. That face absolutely MUST
want to help himself or herself.
Secondly, there is no coincidence in the word "disease" being
made up of two smaller words... words that carry a great deal of meaning.
At Children's Hospital in Denver, where children are hospitalized with the worst forms of asthma, the medicos determined that, like so many other "diseases," acute juvenile asthma is primarily due to what you might call "smother love." Hence, the difficulty in breathing. When they did a "parentectomy"--- separating the kids from their parents--- wow! Quite a difference. Don't think that means a mother is not loving her child correctly, simply a bit excessively. Often, the practice of incessant and absolute control over all decisions reduces the child's skill-set for making self-determined, rational decisions rather than making their decisions based more on emotions of the moment than reasoned consideration. o:p>
Ulcers are NOT caused by what you're
eating... they are directly caused by what's eating YOU.
Back
problems, skin problems such as psoriasis, digestive disorders, eleveated blood pressure, gray hair, and so many other maladies are induced or caused or encouraged or made observably better or worse by how you choose to handle these challenges. Surely if you understood at a higher level you would surely perform at a higher level. Use this opportunity to understand how profoundly your health is affected by your moods and your attitudes, and even something as ridiculous-sounding as the number of times you smile or laugh each day. Like it or not, stress impacts the body instantly, and long-term. Learn more so you can live more. . Stress is, literally, a
killer.
If you like, continue
bemoaning your state... and see what
happens. Or, start getting busy. Go to the library and get Norman Cousin's
multi-million selling "Anantomy
of An Illness."
Read it, then apply
what you read.
Losers list all of the reasons why something won't work.
Winners list ways to go about making it
work.
I
suggest you make a list of EVERYTHING you & your family can do to help you CREATE the most focused state of mind
to empower you to defeat this one challenge of the many that you have
successfully overcome in your life.
When I wish you good luck, Friend, it's
with the understanding that luck is nothing more, or less, than
Laboring Under Correct Knowledge.
I write these words from a personal point of
view. I was told by some pretty fancy
doctors that I would have to spend the remainder of my life with a twisted,
pained neck, made worse by a variety of spinal and neurological problems. You see, a drunken driver hit the van I was
a passenger in at more than 100 MPH.
Talk about injuries!! I
made a decision not to buy into that set of beliefs, and the results speak for
themselves. Is it an easy
journey? No, not necessarily. But it is
fairly simple. Go to the
library. Get books and tapes. Make a decision to search for healthy states
of mind and body. Think positively!
There's no hocus-pocus about it:
The human mind
always moves toward its most dominant thought.
When we have a
strong enough "why," we invariably find a "how."
So, what's YOUR state of mind? Are you willing to stop feeling sorry for yourself and start tapping into the astonishing resource that is referred to as the single most powerful computer in the world?
That computer is
your mind. YOUR mind. Go for it. Above all, remember:
We become what we think about.
